Flying with Aeroflot
Founded in 1923, Aeroflot is among one the world’s oldest airlines and Russia’s most recognised brand. Aeroflot is the flag carrier and largest airline of the Russian Federation and has been a member of SkyTeam since 2006, when it became only the 10th member of the exclusive and prestigious alliance. Aeroflot operates services to 129 destinations in 51 countries around the world including Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, The Middle East, North America and South America. In 2013 the airline carried a total of 20.9 million passengers, a figure that steadily increased in 2014 and 2015. Aeroflot’s fleet is amongst the worlds youngest and consists of 164 aircraft, most of which are modern Airbus A320, A330, Boeing 737, Boeing 777 and Sukhoi SuperJet 100 airliners. 51% of the airline is owned by the Russian government and has its headquarters in Moscow.
Cabin luggage allowance
- Each passenger is allowed 1 piece of cabin luggage with maximum dimensions of 115cm.
- The maximum weight of cabin luggage is 10kg on all Aeroflot flights though this can be increased to 15kg for a fee.
- Each passenger is entitled to 1 piece of cabin luggage. Infants of all ages are entitled to the same cabin luggage allowances as an adult passenger.
- In addition to hand luggage, the following items are allowed in the aircraft cabin: handbags, briefcases, umbrellas, walking sticks, a bouquet of flowers, laptop computer, cameras, video cameras, magazines, newspapers, books, baby food, a carrycot, crutches and a bag with Duty Free purchases. Passengers are not required to have these items weighed, checked in or labelled.
Checked baggage allowance
- Passengers flying on all international and domestic flights operated by Aeroflot may check baggage into the hold provided it is not greater than 158cm in size.
- Each bag checked into the aircraft’s hold can be no heavier than 23kg. This limit can be increased to 32kg for a fee.
- Passengers on international flights are entitled to 1 piece of checked baggage though additional items can also be added for a fee. This includes sports equipment and musical instruments provided they meet the maximum specifications as defined by the airline. Domestic fliers are entitled to 2 pieces of checked baggage as are those flying to and from India, Asia or Istanbul.
- Children from 2 to 12 years of age are entitled to the same baggage allowance as an adult passenger. Infants aged up to 2 years without a seat are allowed 1 piece of baggage weighing less than 10kg with dimensions not exceeding 115cm.

Online check-in
- Online check-in for all Aeroflot flights is available 24 hours before departure and closes 45 minutes before take-off. Check-in for flights from all USA airports close 1 hour before take-off.
- Online check-in and travel on an Aeroflot flight is only possible for passengers with a valid booking reference and passport.
- Passengers checking in online are able to select their preferred seat for the flight.
- Passengers on Aeroflot flights from the following destinations are unable to check in online and must use the airport terminal check-in booths: Arkhangelsk, Beirut, Damascus, Zagreb, Cairo, Murmansk, Novy Urengoy, Samarkand, Split, Tegerana, Tenerife, Tivat, Almaty, Arkhangelsk, Bukhara, Burgas, Dushanbe, Magadan, Harbin, Tehran, Karaganda, Khudzhand, Male, Busan, Rimini, Syktyvkar, Stavropol, Astana, Urgench, Varna, Voronezh.
- No additional fees are charged for passengers wishing to check in at the airport terminal.
