Flying with EgyptAir
With headquarters in Cairo, EgyptAir is the flag carrier airline of Egypt. Operating scheduled passenger and freight services to more than 75 destinations across The Middle East, Europe, Africa, Asia, North America and South America, EgyptAir has since become only the 2nd African airline to join the Star Alliance when it was granted membership in 2008. EgyptAir’s fleet of over 60 aircraft include a combination of Boeing and Airbus models. Since 2007 the airline has seen a steady rise in the number of passengers it carries each year, with 7.8 million travellers choosing to fly with EgyptAir in 2013 alone. EgyptAir was founded in 1932 making it the 1st airline in The Middle East and Africa and the 7th airline in the world to join the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Online check-in
- EgyptAir’s online check-in service is available to all passengers from 48 hours before take-off and up until 90 minutes before your flight’s scheduled departure time.
- The online check-in service is available for passengers holding valid passports and electronic tickets with confirmed reservations on flights operated by EgyptAir.
- EgyptAir’s online check-in is not currently available at the following destinations: Erbil, Iraq; Baghdad, Iraq; Juba, South Sudan; Berlin, Germany; Doha, Qatar; Tripoli, Libya; Benghazi, Libya; Harare, Zimbabwe; Alexandria, Egypt and Geneva, Switzerland. For these destinations check-in is only available at the airport terminal.
- Passengers are also able to check-in at the airport for all EgyptAir flights.
Cabin luggage allowance
- Passengers flying with EgyptAir are entitled to carry 2 pieces of cabin baggage with dimensions no larger than 19cm x 31cm x 53cm each. This also applies for all infant travellers aged less than 2 years.
- The maximum weight of cabin luggage for each piece of cabin luggage for EgyptAir flights is 8kg.
- Parents flying with infants aged less than 2 years are entitled to bring 1 collapsible stroller per infant in addition to their 2 pieces of cabin luggage.
- Luggage that exceeds the weight and size limits as defined by EgyptAir will be placed in the aircrafts hold and a charge will be incurred.
Checked baggage allowance
- Passengers of international routes operated by EgyptAir are entitled to 2 pieces of checked luggage with dimensions no larger than 158cm. Infants aged less than 2 years may check one piece of luggage no larger than 115cm.
- The maximum weight of each piece of checked baggage must not exceed 23kg, though this amount as well as the passenger baggage allowance can be increased for a fee. Infants aged less than 2 years may check 1 piece of luggage no heavier than 10 kg. This can be increased to 23kg for a fee.
- Each passenger of an EgyptAir flight is entitled to 2 items of checked baggage for adults, and 1 item for infants aged less than 2 years. Additional baggage allowance and weight increases are available for a fee.
