Flying with Air Mauritius
With headquarters in Port Luis, Air Mauritius is the national flag carrier airline of Mauritius. Air Mauritius is the 4th largest carrier in Sub-Saharan Africa and has been the winner of the "Indian Ocean Leading Airline Prize” for 7 consecutive years. Air Mauritius operates a network of 20 destinations across Africa, Asia, Europe, The Middle East and Oceania. In 2014 the airline carried close to 1.4 million passengers at a load rate of 78%. The Air Mauritius fleet of 12 airlines is made up of both Airbus and ATR aircraft. The airline has a number of codeshare agreements with some of the world's most acclaimed brands including Air France, Emirates, Malaysia Airlines, South African Airlines and Virgin Australia Airlines. These agreements create plenty of opportunities for passengers to book connecting flights and opens up many further travel destinations beyond those currently available from its network.
Online check-in
- Online check-in for Air Mauritius flights opens 24 hours before the scheduled flight departure and closes approximately 3 hours before take-off.
- Air Mauritius’ online check-in service is available for all flights departing from London Heathrow and Mauritius airports.
- Online check-in is available for all passengers in possession of a valid e-ticket. It is also strongly recommended that passengers only check in once they are sure they have all the relevant travel documentation needed for their flight, such as visas and valid passports.
- Airport check-in desks are available for passengers who don’t wish to check in online. No extra charge is incurred for passengers checking in at the airport.
Cabin luggage allowance
- All cabin luggage carried onto an Air Mauritius flight must not exceed dimensions that in total exceed 115cm.
- The maximum weight for cabin luggage items is 7kg for all destinations.
- 1 piece of cabin luggage baggage is allowed per person. Passengers are also entitled to carry 1 small item such as a purse, laptop, or bag of duty-free goods in addition to their cabin luggage.
- Passengers travelling with infants aged less than 2 years old may carry a stroller or carrycot on board the flight in addition to their cabin luggage provided there is enough space in the overhead bins. If no space is available these items will be checked into the cargo hold for free.
