Flying with TAP Portugal

Founded in 1945, TAP Portugal is the national flag carrier airline of Portugal. Operating close to 2,000 flights a week, TAP Portugal serves 88 destinations in 38 countries across Europe, Africa, North America and South America, with some domestic, European and African destinations being operated by the airline's subsidiary companies Portugália and PGA Express. TAP Portugal's fleet of 77 aircraft mainly consists of Airbus airlines, though some ATR, Embraer and Fokker aircraft are also used. TAP was named the “World’s Leading Airline to Africa” by the World Travel Awards in 2011 and 2012. In 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 it was named the “World’s Leading Airline to South America”. TAP Portugal has been a member of Star Alliance since 2005 and has headquarters in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon.

Online check-in

• Online check-in for TAP Portugal flights is available between 24 hours and 90 minutes before the flight’s scheduled departure time. The online check-in service is not available for TAP Portugal flights to the USA.
• All passengers holding a valid TAP Portugal e-ticket can use the online check-in system.
• When checking in online with a TAP Portugal operated flight, passengers are able to select their preferred seat on board the aircraft.
• Airport check-in desks and in some destinations, check-in kiosks, are also available at each airport terminal operated by TAP Portugal. No extra fee is charged to passengers who wish to check in at the airport.
